Abstract:

The collection contains the minutes from the Society's first meeting, on July 27, 1879 to December 12, 1895. The minutes contain the names of its first members; amendments to its constitution; and information regarding the business, finances, and activities of the Society. The book also contains minutes from July 1, 1907 regarding a resolution that the Society sell its cemetery.

The Chevra B'rith Sholom of Reno, Nevada was founded in 1878. Shortly afterwards, it was destroyed by fire and then reorganized, in 1879, as the Hebrew Benevolent Society. The Society acquired a cemetery and instituted regular services.
